The Iron Knight Review

The Iron Knight (Iron Fey, #4)Ash, former prince of the Winter Court, gave up everything. His title, his home, even his vow of loyalty. All for a girl… and all for nothing.
Unless he can earn a soul.

To cold, emotionless faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought.
Then Meghan Chase—a half human, half fey slip of a girl— smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.
With the (unwelcome) company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through to its end— a quest to find a way to honor his solemn vow to stand by Meghan’s side.
To survive in the Iron realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. At least, no one has ever passed to tell the tale.
And then Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that turns reality upside down, challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.

My name—my True Name—is Ashallayn'darkmyr Tallyn. I am the last remaining son of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie Court. And I am dead to her. My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl…
Well. I'm pretty darn sure Meghan will be required to give up Ash to myself. I, Rola Kamaleddine, of the mortal world, Vow to take Ash as my husband, and put all the boys at my school to shame.
oooooooooh. That was a Vow. ;)

This novel was great. Oh how i love Kagawa for making the Iron Fey Finale form Ash's perspective. it's just perfect. This novel gave us a glimpse into the ice princes thoughts , and we got to experience his raw emotions first hand. It was an excellent twist and a perfect ending- and all thought im utterly depressed that the series had to end, im glad it ended on that note.
Utter perfection.
Ash seeks to uphold his vow to meghan- to find a way to be with her in the Iron realm. the answer- to travel to the end of the world and pass a series of tests in order to earn a sould & become human. the ultimate sacrifice for our ice prince... we all know how he loves to fight & intimidate. However, as ash realizes what it means to be human & his former love, Ariella, comes back.... does he still want meghan?
hell yeah.
I held my breathe for a good 2 chapters until Ash broke it to Ariella that he loves Meghan. I was SO damn relieved. I didnt want Ash betraying Meghan... that would kill the whole love mojo going on. thank god he didn't disappoint. all thought i felt a tinge of sympathy for Ariella... she had to die twice for the same person.
We got to test Ash's loyalty, and baby did he ever pass.
Puck made his last stand, made Ash understand that he wasn't the only one that lost ariella, he had lost her too &- on top of that- Ash has stolen meghan away from him. this novel was a realization for everyone, & i loved it. althought i cant exactly understand what happened to grim at the end, but..... it was just so beautiful all together :')

"I have come from the end of the world. From the river of dreams, through the gauntlet and the briars and the deep wyld, in order to stand before you today. I have but one request- to take my place at your side. to resume my duty as your knight, and to protect you and your kingdom for as long as i draw breath. I'm still yours, my queen."

Enough said ;)

Happy readings my lovelies !

The Iron Queen Review

The Iron Queen (The Iron Fey, #3)"My name is Meghan Chase.
I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.
This time, there will be no turning back."

                                              5 Smokin' Kisses!

The Iron Queen  Oh boy. this was my favorite of all the Iron Fey Novels. This one was just heart Wretching :( oh how i loved it, Kagawa , Welcome to the ranks of my favorite authors. And i dont say that to very many. After blogging & Posting reviews on goodreads, i've read over 200 books. with that being said, I have only ever called one book my "favoirte" and that would be Beautiful Creatures -  It will forever hold that rank. However, after that, I dont claim favorites because simple... There are just too many damn good books! If i was to claim favorites after every novel i read, id be here all day. BUT. BUT. BUT. The Iron Fey have defenitly earned a very very very, shiny spot as one of my favorite series of all time (right behind Beautiful Creatures of course), so yes Kagawa feel very special. & for the ones reading this right now.... take this as a sign and GO PICK UP THE SERIES NOW ! that is all i have to say on that matter.
In the Iron Queen , we follow Ash & Meghan on their very brief visit to the mortal world after their exile. They planned to stay with Meghans family & lead a normal mortal life, even Ash. Until Meghan realizes that she still isn't safe from the False Iron King. Even after defeating glitch, the False Iron King still pursues her power that was given to her upon defeating machina in the Iron King . Meghan, reluctent to pull her family into the grasps of the Iron fey, decides that her & Ash are better off finding leanansidhe instead. With the help of Grim they make it there, & seek sanctuary from The Iron kings minion chasing after Meghan. Puck, who has also now been exiled for leaving nevernever to search for Meghan, is pulled into his own troubles when Meghan finds out the truth about her dad that puck has been hiding.
From that point forward, their journey takes on a new hight- as King Oberon & Queen Mab offer to lift all three of their exiles, if Meghan agrees to venture, once more, into the Iron realm to destroy the False King.
What a beautiful journey this is, despite the blood bath, this novel is filled with love & sacrifice. Here, Ash , puck & Meghan find out what truly comes along with the burden of love & when you have the weight of all of Faery on your shoulders. Vows made, Promises Broken.
"My name is Ashallyn'darkmyr Tallyn, third son of the Unseelie Court. Let it be known- from this day forth, I vow to protect Meghan Chase, daughter of the summer king, with my sword, my honor, and my life. Her desires are mine. Her wishes are mine. Should even the world stand against her, my blade will be at her side. And should it fail to protect her, let my own existance be forfeit. This i swear, on my honor, my true name and my life. From this day on.... I'm yours. "
Doesnt that just give you goosebumps ? *sniffs* just so damn cute.
So Meghan & Ash become inseperable & poor puck sticks it out by their side, even though he is in love with Meghan. Gained total respect for him i must say.
I had this novel finished quicker than Iron daughter which is weird because i was studying for chemistry, but decided that Redox could wait until i found out what happened. hehe ..
so by the end, i was completely & utterly shocked. Meghan is a fricken trooper. Ash is beautiful. & puck is a graceful tragedy. I couldnt believe it, & my heart was squishing into my chest as i read these last words from our prince........  " I will always be your knight, Meghan Chase. And i swear, if there is a way for us to be together, i will find it. No matter how long it takes. If i have to chase your soul to the ends of eternity, I wont stop until i find you. I promise "
How beautiful :'(
The final novel in the series, The iron knight , is told from Ash's perspective. so watch out for that !
"My name is Meghan Chase, and I am the Iron Queen"
Happy readings everyone !

The Iron Daughter Review

The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey, #2)"Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.
Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart "

                                                              5 Smokin' Kisses

The Second in the Iron Fey Series, did this one stand a chance against our Beleoved Iron King ? oh hell yeah! Julie Kagawa defenitly did not disappoint, this novel was everything i had hoped for and more! I believe i even liked this more than the Iron King! Here our journey with Meghan, Ash, Puck & Grimalkin - with a new added touch.. Ironhorse. Oh yes, the so thought enemy, is now a protagonist- and a beloved one may i add as well! also we meet Leanansidhe, the queen of the exiles. & i must say, she's probebly the nicest & most helpful queen in the novel (no offence,  Titiana & Mab... *snickers*) .
Here, Meghan truly gets a feel of what it's like to be a faery in the Winter Court. Even her beloved prince has turned to ice, leaving her alone in the merciless cold.
But as the exchange of the scepter of seasons draws nearer, meghan is bound to find out why Ash has been treating her like dirt. Although things dont go down easily with Ash & Rowan, Ash & Meghan do manage to escape the court while everything is still chaotic due to Sage's death & the Sceptor of seasons gone missing.
I was SO happy when Ash finally told Meghan why he was being a royal-Icy-pain-in-my-behind kinda prince. But of course this happy re-union ends way too soon, as Ash persues the Sceptor of Seasons from the iron fey & tells Meghan to go back home. Little does he know, that The trio- plus iron horse, is on a mission of their own.
The novel Suprised me, Delighted me  & thrilled me all at once.
Kagawa continued her phenomenal writting, exceptional Imagery (which is why i love her writting so much), and i felt like i was in faery the whole time. The characters and plot didn't disappoint & ironhorse & Leanansidhe were lovely additions to the usual crew. I was defenitly at the edge of my seat the whole time... the novel was gone in a good 5 hours straight!
I'm a sucker for happy endings, but this novel has it's bi-polar moments. I teared up when ironhorse sarificed everything for Meghan, and I was pissed when Oberon & Mab were stupid enough to Exile Ash & Meghan even though they saved NeverNever from Virus & her Iron crew. But in the end, i was happy that the two were together- even though a little piece of my heart tore for puck.
The Iron Daughter is complete with action & tactics, Love & Betrayel, Jelousy & Sacrifice.
As soon as i finished, i had to hurry & grab  Iron Queen , Thats where the true adventure continues

Happy readings my lovelies !

The Iron King REVIEW

The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1) "Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart."

                                            5 Smokin' Kisses

So, my first fey novel. As I have always said, I'm more of a Fallen angel/vampire person/witch person- not so much werewolves & faeries..... or so I thought. I still dont like wolves, BUT I defenitly LOVE the fey. I have to learn to not jump to conclusions... the fey arent exactly your cuddly, little tinkerbell.

In the Iron King we meet Meghan Chase. A normal human being, that crushes on jocks she can never have, has a guy best friend that is head-over-heels for her but she's too oblivious, blinded by her girly love for the high school jerk to see it, AND, she gets bullied like every other high school teen. normal right? *snickers* noooope. Meghan Chase isn't exactly as she appears to be. She is, in fact, the daughter of Oberon, the legendary Seelie king, and the fey world is calling for her on her nearing sixteenth birthday. She also couldn't have guessed that her good ol' prankster best friend is, in fact, Robin Goodfellow AKA Puck, from A mid-summer nights dream by our beloved shakespeare.

I must give props to Kagawa, for taking the old irish myths of the Fey & the personality of Puck from Shakespeare's work to put together this phenomenal tale. It is easy to tell how much thought has gone into the world of Nevernever, everything in Faery is pure perfection. Arcadia to Tir Na Nog, although were not completely created by Kagawa, as they already existed in irish mythology, however the feel inside the two lands was completely Kagawa. She put together the lands beautifully, everything from the skies to the trees, the ice to the grass; everything. it is truly perfection. I dont recall hearing much  about Arcadia, but Tir Na Nog is known for being called the "Land of the Young" in irish, and is supposed to the utterly beautiful otherworld. The author puts a wonderful twist on it, changing the paradise to a land of frozen beauty, where the deadly unseelie fey reside. She took a many old myths, and molded them into her own- a smart lady indeed.

Now for the novel itseld. WHOOOH. it's amazing. The characters are perfection- with completed emotions, character discription- everything! Not once did i wonder what a character looked like, which is a pet peeve may i add... i absoloutly hate it when others dont describe their damn characters properly! i wanna know if their hair is blonde or black, are their eyes blue, green or brown? i wanna know when there is a twinkle in their eye when something touches them, and the way they wince when their hurt. thank goodness Kagawa does all of that plus more!
Puck is perfect, The exact prankster he was deseigned to be. His feelings for meghan, and his protection for her make you see beyond his jokesterness- and it's fun to see his serious side sometimes among his whole sillyness. but nonetheless, puck is one of the best characters in the novel
Meghan is an amazing character, and its great reading from her POV. she's a strong willed character, and her role in the novel is believable. she accepts fey but not until she see's and feels it all with her own eyes. her raw emotions to it all made her discovery of Nevernever believable.
Ash is just beautiful. even though he is an ass in the beggining, he begins to grow on you after a while. once his true self is unravelled you begin to feel sorry for him, and see the reasons behind is assy-ness.
Oberon Is the summer king, and the defenition of it too- Nice, yet cruel, looking out for his courts interest- even if that means locking up Meghan.
Titiana is the bitchy queen we all expected, quiet different from Shakespeares version thats for sure. she reminds me of the queen from Alice in Wonderland hehe. Beautiful but, a bitch. Her hate for meghan is somewhat a fuel in parts of the novel.
Mab is the defenition of a faery queen- Beautiful & deadly. her icy-ness is cold and heartless, just like the unseelie fey, and its easy to see the contrast between the two courts.

By the end of the novel, the reader is completely pulled-and imprisioned- in the world of the Fey. Meghan completes her mission, but with strings attatched. she now has an oath to uphold with the ice prince & she has enemies of her own in the iron realm. Little does she know what will come of her love, Ash, in the next novel .... hehehhee anticipation, yes?
A very well earned 5-star rating!
Watch out for the next novel in the Iron Fey Series- The Iron Daughter

Happy readings my lovelies !

City of Bones REVIEW

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride.

ahh finally! i'm one of the LAST human beings to read this, and I couldn't tell you how glad i was to finally get a chance to fall in love with the novel that everyones been talking about!
So with this anticipation, I started reading and boy was I suprised. and not suprised because it was amazingly amazing, but because..... it wasn't all that amazing. I mean, it wasn't bad, it was good enough for me to read the rest of the series- but it just wasn't what I expected. I expected phenomenal characters and an  exceptional plot - but all I got was medicore at best. I was intrigued, but not amazed. I think there might be something wrong with me.... if this book is so amazing, WHY did I not fall in love? I liked Jace & I liked Clary, they were very interesting to read about, but I felt that the POV kinda jumped all over the place. and at times I couldn't tell who's feelings was being discribed. not good.
I hated Simon- he was probebly my least favorite character in the novel. Everytime he said something I couldn't help but clench my fists- I wishh clare made him a bit less annoying.

Clare had good setting discription, which gets major points from me & also complex characters, another win-however, it's something about the way she write that makes the novel ....bland.it doesn't have that edge-of-your-seat thing that every reader loves! why, clare, why! the thing that disappoints me the most is that she actually has a GOOD plot and exceptonal characters... if only she would have  implied them more it would have been a way better novel! even the way trhe characters talk is really plain and lacks emotions, but the novel does get better towards the end.

All in all, the novel kept my attention well but, not well enough. Isn't that confusing? it was a GOOD story and a great read- but not something I thought about after finishing.
truly disappointed, I really wanted to like this :-(
Thank god the next one in the series is way better! review for City of Ashes to come!
