Perfect Chemistry Review

Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1)A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.

When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created 'perfect' life is about to unravel before her eyes. She's forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for: her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect.

Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.

In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart

Wow. this novel was defenitly a pleasent suprise! going into this, I really didn't know what to expect. I mean, its clearly a romance (which I love), but I bought into the hype a bit too quickly & really didn't want to regret it! & thank god I dont! despite to cliche "Cheerleader meets bad-boy" theme, this novel exceeded my expectations!

To begin with, the plot was quite fascinating. the mexican mafia life was built on really well, and enough detail was given so that the reader could truly picture the difficulty of the situation the character was going through. And even beyond this, Alex's personality fit the sitation extremely well; I had a vivid picture of what was going on the whole time!
The one most important thing I would say gave this novel 3/4 of its stars was the fact that Brittany & Alex didn't undergo the typical "Love at first site" aspect of what seems to be every YA novel on the market.
Brittany & Alex actually HATE each other in the beggining; and Brittany makes this very clear. But (for the sake of a spoiler free review) a little bit of this happened here, alex did this over there, brittany was stupid over here... we end up with a truly amazing romance novel, accompanied by amazing writting, description & everything else I love in a novel !
The fact that Brittany doesnt easily let go of her cheerleader life for Alex tells us that Elkeles was able to think more realistically when creating this story; no popular high school girl would do this for "love at first sight". seriously, thank god this novel had none of that.
I defenitly recommend this to anyone who is tired of the usual YA cliche! its defenitly original and refreshing !

review for the next novel in the series Laws of Attraction to come!

Happy reading!
